Competition Winner Jets Off to New York

Ellon resident Donna Gill and her husband Graeme are jetting off for a romantic weekend in the Big Apple this February courtesy of Duncan and Todd Opticians.

The local Opticians ran a competition last year to win a weekend for two in New York in conjunction with the distributor Marchon, whose sunspec range includes designer names such as, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Donna Karan and Nike. Entrants were asked to explain why they purchased their specs at Duncan and Todd. Donna’s winning entry "For designer glasses to suit, far else wid ye look" was chosen for its clever use of local dialect.

The lucky winners will spend three nights in a three star hotel in the heart of midtown Manhattan, a short walk from the Broadway theatres and Fifth Avenue shopping.

The excited couple are counting the days till their departure date of the 5th of February which coincides with their 10th Wedding Anniversary. "I couldn’t believe it, the first competition I’ve ever entered and I won!" laughs Donna,"We’re delighted."
